RingConn Gen 2 VS Oura Gen 4 & Ultrahuman Ring Air

RingConn Gen 2 VS Oura Gen 4 & Ultrahuman Ring Air

For those privy to the world of smart rings, brand names like “Oura” and “UltraHuman” should ring a familiar bell. Pun intended. Considering that the smart ring industry is still quite new in the grand timeline of wearable technology, apart from the previously mentioned “Oura” smart ring, any other smart ring brand would be considered niche to a non-enthusiast of smart wearables.

Now, assuming that you are, said, “non-enthusiast", in case you haven't heard of the newly released RingConn Gen 2, click here to read all about the device’s exciting new features. Once you’re done, get back here and pick up where you left off.

For those who already have some idea of the Gen 2, let’s discuss and compare this emerging-industry-leading smart ring with its industry-leading competitors.

Can RingConn Measure Up?

Dimensions & Weight

Let’s cut to the chase and start with the Oura and Ultrahuman smart rings. The latest version of the Oura ring, the Gen 4, measures at a thickness of 2.88 mm, a width of 7.0 mm and weighs as low as 3.3 grams. The Ultrahuman Ring Air on the other hand measures at a thickness of as low as 2.45mm, a width of 8.1mm and weighs as light as 2.4g.

Now, moving on to what we’ve all been waiting for, the RingConn Gen 2. Built-wise, this smart ring’s got it. Measuring at a thickness of 2mm, with a width of 6.8mm and weighing as low as 2 grams. To put it plainly, in terms of comfortability, the Gen 2 smokes its competitors.

Oh, and fun fact, this new and improved RingConn is the thinnest and lightest smart ring in the world! Don't believe me? Look it up. I’ll wait.

Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea monitoring, the RingConn gen 2’s number 1 most prominent feature. There really isn't any comparison to be made here considering how both the Oura Gen 4 and the Ultrahuman Ring Air lack the ability to monitor sleep apnea.

As a matter of fact, apart from the Gen 2, no smart ring has included a sleep apnea monitoring function in their software. Ever.

Battery Life

Now for the second most prominent feature of this new and improved RingConn, its battery Life.

Battery Life Ranking:

  1. RingConn Gen 2 [Up to 12 days]
  2. Oura Gen 4 [Up to 8 Days]
  3. Ultrahuman Ring Air [Up to 6 days]

Oh yes. The Gen 2 takes the crown on this one. We should dive further into this.

The ranking above is based on the battery life of the rings with only a single charge. 6 days being the minimum amount of days a smart ring can stay powered without an additional charge is relatively exceptional, but 12? That’s spectacular.

Just so you know, combined with the power of its charging case, the RingConn Gen 2 is capable of lasting up to a whopping 150 days! Another fun fact, in smart ring world, the Gen 2 holds the title of longest battery life.

Now that we have touched on all things ring, such as physicality and software, let’s get to more logistical aspects of this discussion. Money.

Subscriptions

Membership subscriptions, arguably the most controversial topic in many areas of tech.

When it comes to the Oura ring, factors like detailed sleep analysis data, 24/7 heart rate tracking, blood oxygen sensors and many more are hidden behind a paywall. This means if you were planning on reaping the full benefits of your future Oura ring, make sure your pockets stay heavy.

As for the RingConn and Ultrahuman Ring Air, both come without subscriptions. You will be able to enjoy the full advantages of owning a smart ring at the prices you purchased them for. Seems like a win to me.

RingConn believes that having access to your own health and wellness data should never be kept behind a paywall.

Pricing

Now, the dreaded, most necessary, maybe even highly anticipated part of any purchase. Price. Heads up, given our location, we’re using Singapore’s currency [SGD]

Prices for the Ultrahuman Ring Air as well as the Oura Gen 4 may vary. However, at the moment, the Ultrahuman Ring Air is priced at approximately $499 SGD whilst the Oura Gen 4 costs at an estimated $475 SGD.

Both rings are expensive, sure, but with highly advanced tech like this, it's usually to be expected…or is it?

Sticking to the price range of around $400 SGD, here, the RingConn Gen 2 is priced at a comfortable $439 SGD. Compared to the other 2 rings, the Gen 2 is sold at a far more affordable rate!

Here's a side-by-side comparison:

Let’s wrap things up here.

While the RingConn Gen 2 is only the first descendant of the RingConn series, all things considered, I think we can all agree, it sure doesn't seem like it.
