Theragun Prime Plus Vs PRO Plus

Theragun Prime Plus Vs PRO Plus

So we’ve gone through the differences between the Theraguns Prime Plus and Gen 5 Prime. Now, since only 2 devices make up Theragun’s Plus collection, it's only natural that we compare them.

So, has the Theragun Pro Plus finally met its match?

Physical

No-Stall Force

If you haven't read our previous comparison blog starring the Prime Plus, fret not, here’s a refresher. First off, the term “No-Stall Force” refers to the amount of pressure you can apply to a Theragun without it stopping/stalling mid-massage.

The Prime Plus has an impressive no-stall force of 40 lbs [18.14 kg] while the PRO Plus has a no-stall force of a staggering 60 lbs [27.2 kg]. When it comes to pressure endurance, we’ll give the PRO Plus its well-deserved flowers.

Display

The PRO Plus has an LCD screen and buttons, as well as, on-device routines. The Prime Plus, on the other hand, is equipped with 2 separate buttons to control the device’s heat and speed.

Attachments

The Prime Plus comes with a total of 4 attachments while the PRO Plus comes with a total of 7 attachments.

Theragun Prime attachments & compatibility:
- Heated Percussive Plus
- Standard Ball
- Dampener
- Wedge
- Compatible with Plus attachments

Theragun PRO Plus attachments & compatibility:
- Heated Percussive Plus
- Vibration Therapy
- Standard Ball
- Dampener
- Thumb
- Wedge
- Micropoint
- Compatible with Plus attachments

While both devices are compatible with all the 3 Plus-exclusive attachments [heat, vibration & cold], unlike the PRO Plus, the Prime Plus only comes with the heated attachment. However, the cold attachment, as usual, is sold separately for both devices.

Function

Multi Therapy

Considering both devices are Plusses, they possess additional therapy functions compared to regular Theraguns.

Prime Plus:
1. Heat
2. Vibration
3. Cold

PRO Plus:
1. LED
2. Heat
3. Vibration
4. Cold

The PRO Plus offers an additional red light therapy.

Biometric Sensor

Biometric sensors on Theraguns record heart rate data and relay it to the Therabody app. The insights provided by that data enhances the functionality of a feature on the app called “Guided Breathwork”.

This sensor, present in the PRO Plus, is absent within the Prime Plus.

Travel Lock

The Travel Lock is a first for all Theraguns. For anyone who gets anxious a lot when carrying your Theragun around in a carry-on [whether to the gym or on airplanes] because you’re afraid the “on” button might accidentally get pushed and start vibrating, this might be your favourite feature.

Currently, the only Theragun this is available on is the Prime Plus. To activate it, you’ll simply have to press the power button three times, consecutively, and the same goes for unlocking it.

Here's a side-by-side Theragun Prime Plus & PRO Plus Comparison:

Now, back to the initial question. Has the Theragun PRO Plus met its match? Perhaps not yet, but I think we can all agree that it was a close game.

So, if you came here confused about whether you should purchase the Prime Plus or the PRO Plus, my advice is to review your budget and weigh that with the features offered by each device. If you feel that you don't need all the added benefits provided by the PRO Plus such as LED therapy, and accessibility to on-device routines, then the Prime Plus should be your top contender. However, if you want the best of the best and your budget agrees with you, then get shopping because the PRO Plus has your name written all over it!

Just know that either way, where recovery and performance tech is concerned, you’ll be getting a device sitting at the apex of the massage gun pyramid.
