What is LED light therapy?
We’ve all heard of LED lights. But how many of us have heard of LED light therapy, let alone believe it? I honestly don’t blame you. Who would think this household name could do more than just brighten the room?
LED light therapy is typically used on the face as a non-invasive (and painless) treatment to tackle skincare issues such as under-eye wrinkles, fine lines, skin dullness and lift sagging skin. While the most common LED light therapy we see is red, Therabody Theraface Mask Glo offers other colours, each bringing about their own benefits.
The colours and what they mean
Therabody Theraface Mask Glo offers 3 types of LED Light therapy, Red, Blue and Red and Infrared. Therabody Theraface Mask Glo also offers vibration therapy which adds a sweet little relaxing touch to your self-care time.

Red light therapy typically glows at 633nm, targeting wrinkles, fine lines and dark spots. This therapy is widely-known, especially for its anti-ageing benefits. Red light therapy has the ability to boost circulation, further enhancing skin tone and texture. Beyond this, red light therapy is also used in recovery as it helps reduce inflammation and discomfort by healing on a cellular level (peek at our Therabody Thermback LED and Therabody Theragun PRO Plus).

Red and infrared light therapy on the other hand combines red light therapy with deeper infrared light, typically invisible to us, providing benefits of both types of therapy at once. Infrared light is known to boost collagen production while as mentioned, red boosts circulation. With these therapies working together, you’ll achieve a more youthful complexion with firmer skin and lesser wrinkles.
Blue light therapy on the other hand helps fight bacteria which causes acne while preventing new bacteria from growing. This helps prevent flare ups, reduces inflammation and works on healing current break outs.

How to use the Therabody TheraFace Mask Glo
All of the terms used may sound daunting. Fret not, Therabody has preset all of the therapies for you so all you’ll need to do is press a button and sit back for 12 minutes, enjoy your scalp massage and let the light do its work.
If sitting back isn’t really your thing, Therabody TheraFace Mask Glo is not only cordless, but also comes with a protective eye shield which means you can just wear the mask and go on about your day without the fear of sensitivities or hurting your eye. It also weighs in at 514 grams, reasonable enough that it would allow you to move about without any inconvenience.

Therabody TheraFace Mask Glo is also fitted with 504 medical grade LED lights, ensuring every inch of your face will be targeted. If you have a deep understanding of your skin and its needs or just don’t feel like sitting through the entire 12 minute cycle, Therabody TheraFace Mask Glo also offers 4 minute targeted therapy where you can choose the LED you’d like to use.
Tips and tricks to Glo
Always start with a clean skin. Before putting on the Therabody TheraFace Mask Glo, ensure you’ve cleaned off your make up and washed your face for maximum effectiveness. Do not use skincare products with the mask as some products may react to the LED lights and cause sensitivities. Bare skin is the way to go!

Intensity isn't the key, consistency is. Most results only appear after the mask is used everyday for 8 weeks, with the most visible results appearing after 12 weeks. While I understand the excitement of wanting to see yourself glo, it isn't advisable to overuse the product as LED light therapy can build your skin's tolerance, making the therapies less effective.
Create a routine when wearing the mask. While the Therabody TheraFace Mask Glo already has a preset routine, unplug like the mask and take this opportunity to sit back, relax and enjoy the moment. Creating a routine also helps with ensuring consistency of wearing the mask by assimilating it into your day.
